Thank you, Tish. This is a wonderful story; I am so glad you shared it. Will you submit it to the new IAHE Testimonial page? It’s a new page that was posted in response to this issue and the fact that Indiana homeschoolers’ good reputation is being maligned by this public school mess. People want to share their stories. Since we both homeschooled for over two decades, we know a lot of homeschoolers. The descriptions in the transcript does not define the people in the homeschool community that I know.

We agree. We were told the testimony was bad, but we were absolutely shocked when we read the transcript.

We agree, Emily. IAHE Action was very troubled by the statements from the transcript. The statements absolutely do not reflect what tens of thousands of Indiana home educators have experienced over the course of the past several decades of the modern homeschool movement. Thank you for standing with us for the cause of freedom.

I love your final line. Little House on the Prairie is absolutely a better description of what true homeschoolers experience.
Thank you for your efforts in making sure homeschoolers are informed and encouraged. We appreciate you.

For those who have never homeschooled, sometimes it is difficult to think outside of the “public school box”. When homeschoolers spend time with their children on a daily basis, they don’t need a test to know where their child excels and where their child struggles. We just KNOW.

Yes, Indiana has great homeschool resources statewide. People who move here from out of state have told us Indiana home educators are some of the most helpful families they have met. Hoosier homeschoolers come a long side each other to encourage and give helpful suggestions for curriculum, etc.

We are glad you chose to be a Hoosier, Laura. Many Indiana homeschoolers live close to the state line and have chosen Indiana for the same reason. We are thankful that the Indiana General Assembly has shown great wisdom in allowing low regulations in our state. Take a look at the IAHE Testimonial page; it proves how Indiana’s low homeschool…[Read more]

Absolutely, Kim. Indiana home educators are standing on the front lines in the battle for freedom. This issue has given IAHE Action a platform to discuss why home education freedom is important. Thank you for standing with us.

It’s a new page that was posted in response to this issue and the fact that Indiana homeschoolers’ good reputation is being maligned by this public school mess. People want to share their stories. Even public school teachers have posted testimonials. We only wish we would have thought of doing it years ago. We have heard countless incredible stories of educational success over the past three decades. Better late than never! 🙂

We agree with your assessment, Amy. The government schools have enough concerns. The State should focus on fixing what they already control. Indiana homeschooling works!

Thank you for your efforts, Tracey, to continually remind people as to where the problem and solution to this problem can be found…the public school.
IAHE sees the same thing with our numbers. Due to commercial convention competition, we had to cut our expenses. At that time IAHE was mailing The Informer and other print mailings to 18,500. We purged the list in 2011. It’s back up to 7,500. We switched to email at that time for the bulk of our correspondence. We have noticed that we have a different audience on the IAHE Facebook page, email list, and in the IAHE and IAHE Action Discussion groups. The Action discussion group is much different than the IAHE discussion group. It’s very interesting.

Thank you, Karen, for your family’s part in helping new homeschoolers begin their homeschool journey. IAHE has been told numerous times how easy it is to find homeschool information in Indiana.
We love our homeschool community. So many rich relationships develop over the decades as we learn alongside other families.
