So far, it’s not on the schedule for this week. He only has 2 bills on Tuesday and 3 on Thursday. Other years, he had seven or eight each committee, so this is unusual.
Rob is overseeing our strategy, so we will see what he suggests.
I am going to reach out to Lucas again on Monday.

February 4, 2017 at 4:24 pm #1585Debi KetronMemberPlease continue circulating the petition. A liberty group tried to talk to Lucas about this bill and were shut down like we were. They have never had a legislator act like that before either.
They heard, as did we, it will probably be heard in Committee. They believe it could move.
Please make a phone chain of those in your House and Senate districts whom you could call when needed. Thanks.
For the cause of Liberty!
January 19, 2017 at 11:22 am #1522Debi KetronMemberHere’s a link for visiting the Capitol. Look at the young lady standing at the desk in the fourth picture. That is where we need help at 1:30 p.m. when they go into session.
Mary, can you be at the House Republican desk (when looking in the House Chambers it is on the LEFT)?
Tim, can you be at the House Democrat desk (when looking in the House Chambers it is on the RIGHT)?
Chelsea, can you be at the Senate Republican desk (when looking in the Senate Chambers window it is on the RIGHT)?
I need another person to be at the Senate Democrat desk (when looking in the Senate Chambers window it is on the LEFT.)
If more Guardians can attend, we will double up at the Republican desks since there are so many more of them.
Your mission is to help homeschoolers connect with their legislators. Direct them to the proper desk and ask for a form from the person at the desk. Have them fill it out and give it to the person at the desk. They will ask the legislator to come out to meet the constituent. Tell the Homeschooler to WAIT until the legislator arrives. It may be a bit (10 minutes or so depending on the vote. If they must leave, tell the person at the desk.)
Do you each happen to have an Ipad? If they do not know their legislator, they can tell you their address to look it up. If not. I plan to bring mine and you could refer them to me. Here’s the link.
Thank you!
January 18, 2017 at 10:33 pm #1518Debi KetronMemberI am back. Finally! Bill reading and Statehouse visits have kept me very busy.
Here’s the link to the event. http://www.iahe.net/2017-home-school-day-state-capitol
Mary, could you help people connect with their legislators at 1:30 outside the Chambers of the House Republicans?
Jill, are you able to help people connect at 1:30? I was not sure of your children’s ages to see if it would be too much.
Can anyone else man a location outside the Chambers at 1:30?

Mary, this will be a repeat of the last call. If you want to hang out with us, you are welcome, but you don’t have to since you were on the last call.

September 28, 2016 at 11:16 pm #729Debi KetronMemberThank you, Cyrial.
In addition to the concerns mentioned in the blast. We also have concerns about Education Savings Accounts. These are vouchers on steroids that “follow the child.” Government-funding always comes with strings attached. Strings have helped destroy the public schools. We hope to avoid them.
States that have ESAs have homeschool statutes, so they could separate homeschoolers from ESA students. In Indiana, we have been defined as “private schools” since 1904. We are trying to see how we can protect families who do not want government involvement. It is trickier in a private school state.
We will keep you up to date.

September 22, 2016 at 6:06 am #704Debi KetronMemberIf you receive a 404 message, you need to log in to read the message. We thought we had this fixed.
Thank you all for introducing yourselves.
We are very concerned that we will need to defend our liberty in the upcoming 2017 session of the Indiana General Assembly. Thank you for working with us to protect our freedom. This may be the biggest fight we’ve seen over Indiana homeschooling. We will attempt to stop it prior to the session, if a bill is introduced, that is when we need to act as a unit. We will let you know details when we are certain how best to approach this concern. In the meantime, please build a phone chain in your House and Senate districts to pass alerts on quickly. We need to melt the phone lines if they try to pass legislation.
